If you want to know more about it, please read below:
The goal of these classes is to help increase vocabulary, aid in pronunciation and to make students feel more comfortable communicating in our very difficult language. We will make every effort to place students in classes with women who are at their same skill level, so they can learn in a relaxed atmosphere.
These classes are for women who already have some knowledge of English.
The classes are free to any IWAP member. The annual fee to join IWAP is $25.00.
You are welcome to attend a class as our guest to see if it meets your needs, and then join the next week or at one of the regular Thursday meetings.
We offer one class that includes young children so that mothers can learn English while they care for their child. Due to state regulations it has become very expensive for us to offer childcare on its own. Very young children can stay with their mothers in class. Those who are more active or who have difficulty separating are welcome to join their mothers in the Moms and Kids class. If your child separates easily, he/she can stay under Lisa’s care.
As with our regular meetings, there is no English class when Pittsburgh Public Schools are closed or have a delay (late start) due to bad weather conditions! If the weather is bad, check local TV or radio stations to get information about whether schools are closed. Please note that we follow only the Pittsburgh Public Schools’ schedule, not other school districts.
Class are held at First United Methodist Church. Class starts promptly at 10:00 am. As a courtesy to your teacher and the other students, please be on time. If you are unable to attend, or need to stop attending for any reason, please notify Lisa Morse as soon as possible.
Please enter the building using the same door as for IWAP meetings. Lisa will meet you at the end of the hall and will direct you to your room.
